QUESTION

What is Hazardous Waste?

Hazardous waste is any waste that poses a risk to human health or the environment, either because of its chemical properties or how it behaves if it's not disposed of correctly. It covers a wide range of materials, from chemicals, oils, and solvents to batteries, fluorescent tubes, and contaminated materials.

Importance of Proper Disposal:

  • Legal Compliance: Ensures adherence to the Hazardous Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2005.
  • Risk Mitigation: Prevents harm to people, property, and the environment from incorrect handling or storage.
  • Reputation Management: Protects your business from the financial and reputational fallout of non-compliance.

OUR SERVICE

Fully Licensed Hazardous Waste Collection & Disposal

Hazardous waste can't be treated like everyday rubbish, as getting the classification wrong, or letting it mix with general waste, can turn a small problem into a costly one. We take that risk off your hands from the first collection onwards. When you choose Hurn Recycling, we will provide you with:

  • Correct Classification: Help identifying and classifying your hazardous waste using the correct EWC codes.
  • Licensed Collection: All hazardous waste is collected by fully trained, licensed teams.
  • Full Documentation: A completed Hazardous Waste Consignment Note for every collection, so you're covered if you're ever asked to prove compliance.
  • Compliant Disposal: Treatment and disposal at permitted facilities, in line with current regulations.
