Our Story

From a single vehicle in 1998 to Dorset's largest independent waste management company, our story has always been about people, not just bins. Here's how we got here, and where we're headed next.

FROM THE TOP

A Word from Our Founder

"When I started Hurn Recycling in 1998, my ambition wasn't to become the biggest; it was to become the company businesses could rely on. Every customer mattered, every collection mattered, and every member of the team represented our reputation. More than twenty-five years later, those principles still guide our business every single day. I'm incredibly proud of what we've built together, but even more excited about where we're going next."

HOW WE STARTED

Every Business Has a Story

Ours began in 1998, when Severnside Waste Paper closed its Hurn operation, leaving many Dorset businesses without a reliable local recycling provider.

Where others saw a business closing, our founder, Peri Cascarino, saw an opportunity to continue serving the local community. Having worked within the industry, Peri understood exactly what local businesses needed: a dependable, honest waste management company built around service rather than shareholders.

Starting with little more than determination, hard work, and a single vehicle, Hurn Recycling began collecting waste and recyclables for local businesses across Dorset. Jump forward to today and that same commitment remains at the heart of everything we do.

Today, Hurn Recycling has grown into Dorset's largest independent waste management company, providing complete waste and recycling solutions to thousands of businesses throughout Dorset.

Despite our growth, we've never lost sight of what made us successful in the first place. We're still independently owned. We're still locally based. And we still believe that exceptional customer service should come as standard.
